Teachers’ Day (5th September 2017)
“The best teacher is the one who suggests rather than dogmatizes,
and inspires his listener with the wish to teach himself.”
Edward Bulwer-Lytton
In India 5th September is celebrated as Teachers’ Day as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society. 5th September is the birthday of a great teacher Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education, and was the well-known diplomat, scholar, President of India and above all a Teacher. Teachers Day at The Jain World School was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm. The day started with giving a tribute to Dr. Saravpalli Radhakrishnan. The day had an emotional and recreational touch.
On this occasion, cake and sweets were distributed among the students and the teachers. The students gave greeting cards prepared by them to their teachers. The best part of the programme was the students enacting their teachers. On Saturday, the 4th of September 2010 few students from Class IX were selected and were allotted subjects, topics and classes to be handled. Thereafter, they took over the academic and administrative working of the school under the guidance of teachers. They felt proud running the school and realized the importance of teachers in their lives. It was a very exciting day for the students because they got to teach children of lower classes. It was a very enlightening experience for them as they got to know the trouble and the fun that teachers have while teaching children of a class. They were very happy.
All the teachers of the school were honoured by Mrs. Alpana Sahai, Principal of the school, for their commitment and dedication to the cause of education. She urged them to lead a healthy and disciplined life and create a healthy environment. The Principal of the school put more emphasis on moral and ethical values, which she expected the students to follow. She also wanted the teachers to be role model for the children.
Students always look forward to Teachers’ Day with a lot of anticipation, for the sheer spirit of the occasion. Teachers, on this day, are reminded of their school days and feel nostalgic.
Teachers play a major role in making their students responsible citizens of tomorrow and good human being. It is impossible to imagine our lives without teachers. They are the cornerstone of our future. We can never thank teachers enough for their immense contribution in a student’s life. Teachers’ Day is celebrated to show our acknowledgement and recognition of the hard work put in by our teachers towards our development.
All in all, it was celebration mode for everyone!
